Droplet collisions after liquid jet breakup in microgravity conditions
The droplet dynamics and collisions after a liquid jet breakup have been experimentally studied in low gravity conditions. An experimental setup was designed in order to be used at the I.N.T.A. Drop Tower, which allows for 2.1 seconds of microgravity. The dynamics of distilled water jets injected into a rectangular tank was recorded by means of a high-speed video camera. Observations of the dro...
متن کاملJet-fluid string formation and decay in high-energy heavy-ion collisions
We propose a new hadronization mechanism, jet-fluid string (JFS) formation and decay, to understand observables in intermediate to high-pT regions comprehensively. In the JFS model, hard partons produced in jet lose their energy in traversing the QGP fluid, which is described by fully three-dimensional hydrodynamic simulations. When a jet parton escapes from the QGP fluid, it picks up a partner...
متن کاملHigh velocity interparticle collisions driven by ultrasound.
Ultrasonic irradiation of slurries produces high velocity impacts between solid metal particles that are sufficient to cause interparticle melting. Sonication of 5 mum Zn powder as a slurry in alkanes, for example, produces dense agglomerates 50 mum in diameter consisting of approximately 1000 fused particles. Particle size was found to be the most influential parameter in inducing local meltin...
متن کاملLimiting fragmentation in hadron-hadron collisions at high energies
Limiting fragmentation in proton-proton, deuteron-nucleus and nucleusnucleus collisions is analyzed in the framework of the Balitsky-Kovchegov equation in high energy QCD. Good agreement with experimental data is obtained for a wide range of energies. Further detailed tests of limiting fragmentation at RHIC and the LHC will provide insight into the evolution equations for high energy QCD.
متن کاملA limiting case for Velocity
We complete the theory of velocity averaging lemmas for transport equations by studying the limiting case of a full space derivative in the source term. Although the compactness of averages does not hold any longer, a speciic estimate remains, which shows compactness of averages in more general situations than those previously known. Our method is based on Calderon-Zygmund theory. R esum e Nous...
